Pirates

Women Pirates, Award-Winning Writer James L. Nelson tells the Story of Women Pirates on Sunday, February 10 at 2 pm at our Library on Cross Road. Snow date is Sunday, February 17 at 2 pm. The event is free and open to all.
Since the dawn of seafaring, piracy has been a constant menace, and the pirate life attracted people of every race and nationality, and gender as well. Over the centuries there have been a number of women pirates who gained both notoriety and fortune. Foremost among them were Anne Bonny and Mary Read, whose exploits have lived on down the ages. Nelson will discuss the women who made piratical history, including an in-depth look at the lives, deaths and times of two of history's most famous women pirates.

The Library has five artworks by Bernard "Blackie" Langlais, donated by Colby College Museum of Art and the Kohler Foundation. Please visit the Library during our hours as part of The Langlais Art Trail .
