It is with great sadness to inform our patrons of the passing of Maggie, our beautiful and sweet library therapy dog. She was only eight years old. Maggie loved working at the library with the children of Cushing where she had been part of the 'Reading with Maggie' children’s program since 2014. She will be greatly missed.
A Memorial Box for Maggie is present in the Library for any child who wishes to draw a picture or write about their favorite memory of her.

The LEAPS program began April 2 and will conclude Friday, May 5 with a reception and show of the student’s art at the Library. The art will be displayed the entire month of May. All are invited to the Library to view the students’ art.

The Cushing Library received a grant from the Davis Family Foundation for a collaborative endeavor with LEAPS of IMAGINATION, the Langlais Sculpture Preserve and local children. Second and Fourth graders from Cushing will work with LEAPS of IMAGINATION artists and staff of the Cushing Library and the Langlais Preserve. The program interweaves art, literacy and environmental stewardship for young learners. The library has a new collection of books on animals and the artist Bernard Langlais and will be getting new furniture for the children’s area and an art hanging system.

The Library has five artworks by Bernard "Blackie" Langlais, donated by Colby College Museum of Art and the Kohler Foundation. Please visit the Library during our hours as part of The Langlais Art Trail .
